Blackie gets lost
Blackie gets lost
It's a beautiful sunny day. Blackie is in a field near a wood. The birds are singing and the insects are buzzing. Blackie is really happy. Suddenly a small blue and yellow butterfly lands on his nose. "Let's go to the waterfall," she says. "Follow me."
Blackie doesn't know what a waterfall is, so he follows her into the wood. "Hmm, I'm learning something new today," he says to himself. The butterfly goes further and further into the wood, but now it's getting dark. Blackie is tired and afraid of the big trees around him. "These trees are friendly...." he feels. He is sad seeing their angry faces.
The strange noises and shapes in the wood make him scared, and after walking so far he's tired and thirsty. "I don't like this," says Blackie. But he still follows the butterfly and soon he can hear the sound of water falling. "I can drink here and then I can sleep," he thinks.
Blackie feels beautiful cold water on his tongue and a cool breeze on his face. Oh, that water is nice, very nice. "Blackie, Blackie, wake up." One of the snails is giving Blackie a drink. Blackie opens his eyes and sees a butterfly fanning his face. "It's time to go home," they say. "You were dreaming!"
Blackie is very relieved that he isn't lost in the middle of a big wood. "I have some wonderful friends," he says to himself.
